The Rolex Circuito Atlántico Sur 2025 will start tomorrow at 12 from Dársena Norte, with the participation of 75 sailboats manned by 500 sailors from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Ecuador. This nautical competition is considered one of the most outstanding in South America and will have Punta del Este as its first destination.
The sailboats will depart in front of the Yacht Club Argentino (YCA) to head towards the eastern coast, where various races will take place, such as Barlovento-Sotavento, Circuito La Barra, and Vuelta a Gorriti, with boats from the ORC, ORC Sportboat, and International J70 classes. The organization of this sporting event is in charge of the Yacht Club Argentino and its counterpart in Punta del Este.
Among the boats with the most experience participating are the Argentinians "Patagonia", "Gaucho", "San Gregorio", "Sandokán", and "Mac", as well as the Brazilians "Crioula" and "Bravissimo". Rafael Pereira Aragón, owner of the "Patagonia" sailboat, highlighted the excellence and dedication that the competition requires, emphasizing the importance of experience, technical knowledge, and the endurance of each crew member.
The "Patagonia", of ORC formula and designed by Javier Soto in 2011, has demonstrated its leadership in previous competitions. The crew of the sailboat is made up of distinguished sailors such as Jordán Rivas, Emiliano Homps, Diego Weppler, among others. There will be a total of 40 registered Argentinians in the tournament, with representation in both the ORC and J70 categories.
One of the novelties of this edition is the support of the Udaondo project for the Storm 23 sailboat "Rengo", which will compete in the ORC Sportboat category. The "Rengo" is recognized for its high performance in previous competitions and has an experienced crew that has sailed the legendary "Matrero". From Udaondo, the importance of participating in this challenge was highlighted as an opportunity to project their values of excellence and commitment.
For Udaondo, this sponsorship represents its first foray into the nautical field, a strategic decision to approach an audience that values quality and design, fundamental values of its real estate project located in Buenos Aires. The competition will culminate on February 3, with crossings that will total 310 km and promise exciting challenges for sailors and spectators alike.
